Over two hundred Dominicans of the Order of Preachers, a Catholic religious Order, are gathered in Providence (RI) for their General Chapter to elect the next Master General.
The delegates, representing over 6, 000 brothers, 2, 000 nuns and over 100,000 lay Dominicans, will be electing their 86th Master General since the foundation of the Order in 1215 by saint Dominic de Guzman. This election will be held on July the 14th and the new Master General will be succeeding to Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, who was the first English Master of the Order.
The delegates of this international Order, to which famous saints, such as Thomas Aquinas, Albert the Great and Catherine of Siena belonged to, will reflect on their current mission in the world and it's future, from July 10th till the of August 8th.
